“I got to know Rolins when I was working with him on a residential project where he had put up a sound studio for my client in one of the rooms, and through that process it was easy to see how meticulous and knowledgeable rolins was. Many meetings we would just sit and listen to what he had to say because as an interior designer, things like internal acoustics and vibrations are topics that I am yet learning about.
He was always a wealth of knowledge and maintains a beautifully sketched notebook. These sketches are so amazing that he ended up printing them out and framing it in the same studio he designed. I subsequently hired him on a restaurant project I was working on which is a wine bar and fine dining place along one of the busiest & nosiest streets in Bandra. The space was problematic because the owner of the property had split it up into two halves, and one half was a very traditional Punjabi restaurant and the other side was supposed to be a bar where we would be playing loud music. Sharing an entire long wall with a restaurant which attracted a more mature audience was proving to be a huge pain point for the landlord, my clients and me as a designer. Rolins and his team were consulted, and they provided us with a solution for both isolation and internal acoustic treatment ‘within our budget’.
It was almost like magic- as you now enter the restaurant, there is banging loud music with a deep bass. The second you leave and go right next door, even along the entire wall of the restaurant you can hear absolutely nothing! It is almost as if the space next door is completely quiet- till you open the door to the bar and realize that is not the case at all. His professional attitude and timely execution have been other plus points, and I am sure this is the first of many projects that I will be using his expertise for.”
